Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actress since the end of the 1980s. In the last decade she has been working on film and television. She's received numerous awards including 16 NAACP Image Awards. Bassett is a native of New York New York and raised by an aunt who lived in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett relocated with her older sister St. Petersburg Florida at the age of five to be near their mother, who was separated from their father. In high school, Bassett saw John Steinbeck's play Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she wanted to pursue a career as an actor. Yale University New Haven Connecticut granted her a bachelor's degree (1980) which was in African American study, and an advanced degree (1983), from the Yale School of Drama. She met Courtney B. Vance, a fellow actress at Yale and they got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. BA. (Afro-American study) in 1980. A Master of Fine Arts (Drama) from Yale School of Drama School. Angela Bassett is currently working on one of the leading characters in the film Ramonda in the action movie i.e. Black Panther: Wakanda forever (2022).
